ADDING A PATTERNED BACKGROUND

(click all images for fullsize)

to do this you need to find the brains div and make the background white like so

and then find where the page’s background code is near the top after body

delete everything that is highlighted and add the link to your own background where the pink line is.

like i said it will end up looking like this when you click posts to view notes:

but obviously this is a much easier way to add a background and an easy alternative for people who do not have photoshop or aren’t too fussy.

ADDING A PATTERNED BACKGROUND METHOD 2
(click all images for fullsize)

save the dummy background image from here for original theme and original flipped or here for the wider versions, here for original theme and original flipped black versions and here for the wider black versions, and open it in photoshop (or whichever image editing software you use).

copy the pattern image you want as your background and paste it onto the dummy background. then use the move tool to click and drag the pattern next to where the white table is like so:

repeat this step until you have filled either side of the white main table with a row of the patterned background image like so:

then crop underneath the pattern to get rid of the red

save as jpeg and upload to image shack and under image size select “do not resize”, other image hosts such as tinypic and photobucket automatically resize large images like this when uploading so i suggest using image shack. then you can add the direct link they give you to the body background code like this:

update preview/save and there you have a patterned background that continues to the bottom of the page no matter what.
